A method statement describes how a job will be done safely, step by step. It usually goes with the risk assessment; together they are often called RAMS. Keep it specific to the job. A generic method statement that nobody reads doesn't protect anyone.
Templates are a starting point. Adapt them to your site, your equipment and your procedures, and have them reviewed by a competent person.
