How it's calculated

V0 = ΔV ÷ ((P0/P1)^(1/n) − (P0/P2)^(1/n)) Pressures absolute; n = 1 isothermal, 1.4 adiabatic

Use the adiabatic setting when the accumulator discharges in seconds, for example for emergency or peak flow. Use isothermal for slow duties like leakage make-up. Adiabatic sizing gives a larger accumulator.

Pre-charge only with nitrogen, never air or oxygen. Accumulators store energy even when the pump is off: discharge the oil side before work (see the free LOTO template).
