Motor running cost calculator
Annual energy use and electricity cost of a motor.
Calculating…
How it's calculated
Input kW = rated kW × load ÷ efficiency
kWh/year = input kW × hours/day × days/year
Cost = kWh × price
Over its life, a motor's electricity usually costs many times its purchase price. That is why premium-efficiency motors and VFDs on fans and pumps often pay back quickly.
For fans and centrifugal pumps, power varies roughly with the cube of speed, so running 20% slower can cut power by around 45%.
